Seven Years Of Bliss.

Monday, December 31, 2012

“Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
-Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”

I was going to post all about this yesterday but I had such an amazing day that I just couldn't do it.Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our anniversary! We have been together for seven whole years and we've been married for two! I can't believe how fast these years have flown by us. I couldn't ask for a better partner or father for my children. I am so lucky to have found my match at such a young age and I look forward to all of the years we have ahead of us. Nothing is better than realizing that you've become one tree.
Tonight will be our seventh new years kiss and I know at midnight I'll be reflecting on all the years we have conquered together, as well as looking forward to all that 2013 will have to offer us and our family.

Here are a few pictures from our little celebration last night, we had a fantastic time enjoying each others company and eating some killer food.
1.// My husband surprised me with a Betsey Johnson sea turtle locket, I'm in love with it! 2.// Blood Orange Cosmos and doodling before dinner. 3.// We had three killer courses for dinner. The goat cheese stuffed peppadew peppers were amazing!

I hope that you all enjoy your New Years celebrations and remember to be safe! I will be bundled up with my wonderful husband and kiddos enjoying appetizers and watching the snow fall (finally)!

Ring in 2013 RIGHT!

Saturday, December 29, 2012

When you start to prepare for New Years the top three questions you usually ask yourself are
1.// What will you wear? 2.// What will you drink? 3.// Who will be your date?
Am I right?
Well in this post I got number one and two covered for you. I've been collecting some really yummy drink recipes to share for just this occasion. I also worked with House Of Fraser to pick out some gorgeous New Years Eve party dresses.  I'm sorry to say your on your own when it comes to who will be the one you lay a smooch on at midnight. I've had the same date for the past seven years and it's been fantastic (more on that tomorrow!) but I'm probably not great in the match making department.
New Years is the best time to break out your sequins, lace, and fancy cocktails. Here are a few flirty frocks and drink recipes that are sure to keep you rockin' into 2013!

All of these gorgeous dresses and many more can be found over at House Of Fraser!

Holiday Photo Dump!

Friday, December 28, 2012

I have an insane amount of cute photos from Christmas and a lot of other random things so this is going to be a pretty lengthy Insta-Lately! The kiddos had such an amazing Christmas! All of my family sent us so many gifts for them and we spoiled them rotten so they got everything on their wish lists. Hunter had a great time unwrapping presents and playing with all of his new goodies and every toy Marli opened was her favorite thing ever. I was even spoiled by my husband who bought me the most killer earrings and my mom and step dad bought us a new television, whattt!? All in all we had a spectacular time!
I'm looking forward to this weekend, my husband has a little something planned for our anniversary celebration on Sunday, so look forward to embarrassing photos of us from the past seven years, and then it's New Years! I have a cocktail and style guide coming up for you guys to get your new years parties in full swing, so look forward to that as well!
Anyway, here are some of the pictures that sum up our amazing Christmas week!

GypsyBeeeVintage has also been on a small vacation due to the holidays and I've been working hard to build up a new stock for the new year. When the shop opens back up in January you can find these items listed and ready to take home!

Where your plants at?

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Today's Kitsch Krazy is all about vintage planters! You can use these babies for just about anything. You can store all kinds of goodies inside, use them for vases (or their actual purpose), and add them to a space for a little kitsch-y decor. There are so many varieties and styles of planters, it's hard to choose! I find myself most in love with the very atomic planters and of course the amount of cute animal planters on Etsy is outrageous. Fluffy Poodle and Baby Fawn, I want you!
Here are a few different styles that I love!

Recently I was contacted by Shabby Apple to take part in their affiliate program. I was super thrilled that they thought my blog would be a great fit with Shabby Apple because I'm a huge fan. I know that most of you know what Shabby Apple is all about, but if you don't head on over to my sidebar and check them out!
I had never bought anything from them until I won a whopping $50 gift card from a giveaway hosted by the lovely Maddie from Thriftary. I was so glad to finally purchase one of their dresses and I absolutely love it!
During the Holidays there are tons of parties, family gatherings, and all sorts of reasons to be dressed to the nines. Shabby Apple has so many cute options when it comes to holiday attire, it's insane. I know it seems like it's too late to order off the internet and still have your special attire in time for all of your Holiday festivities, but fear not, if you order before the 20th, you'll get free three day shipping on orders over $100 with promo code Holiday Express!
Here are some of my holiday picks from Shabby Apple that will be sure to turn heads at your holiday shindig.

Come on in!

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Long ago I took you for a little tour around my hive. When I originally showed you guys around we were in the middle of some crazy and hectic times. We were trying to conquer the challenge of having an addition to the family and our place was a plain mess. I look at those photos now and slightly shutter. Now that everything has settled down and a lot of re-decorating has been done I figured I would give you guys another tour of what we got going on at home. I decided to break this little adventure up into parts, so in the future I'll be showing off other rooms in the hive.
Today we are in my master bedroom! We use this space almost more than our living room, it's true. My husband's job requires him to work a lot outside of the office so we have an area where he can work while I do all of my little crafty projects. We watch a lot of family t.v. together snuggled up in our bed with the kiddos. I like to keep the spaces in my home pretty light and bright. I found my Liberty of London comforter at Target awhile back and basically used that as the inspiration for the colors of the space. We live in an apartment complex and they don't really allow painting walls, so I try to use a lot of pops of color to make the space a little less sterile. All of the other pieces just sort of fell in to place when it comes to my decor. The very shabby side tables came from the flea market for a whopping $15.00 for both of them, I commandeered them from my friend and I love them!
Now lets get down to it... you want to know about my light fixture.
I originally fell in love with this baby while reading Young House Love a long time ago. I believe they had the same one in their master bedroom as well. I needed this light, I NEEDED IT! Of course St. Louis is a bummer and there isn't an IKEA close to where I live, so i moved on with my life and tried to forget about it. Finally last summer we took a family vacation to Austin to stay with my aunt and they had an IKEA an exit away. Well naturally the first thing i did was haul ass to IKEA and find my light! I convinced my husband that we could fit it in the car (with a pair of side tables I had purchased at a resale shop during the trip). We literally jam packed my Mazda 3 hatchback so tight it was going to explode and drove 16 hours home!
My heart grew three times its size that day.
I know I just rambled on and on about my room decor, so why don't I just let you take a look around yourself!

Floral Frenzy!

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Today on Kitsch Krazy I'm going insane over vintage floral fabric. I have been collecting fat quarters of vintage sheets for awhile now! Often times you can see me using them as backgrounds in pictures but I also love to make pillows and other fun things with the funky fabrics I find. I recently started collecting a stash to make my daughter a ruffled bed spread for her room!
Here is a little collection of some pretty rad prints I found for sale on Etsy!
If you love vintage floral fabric as much as I do, hop on over to Kitschy Digitals and grab a Vintage Bedding Paper Pack designed by Kate Gabrielle of Scathingly Brilliant
I have some of the fabrics her paper pack is inspired by!

Christmas Wishlist!

Monday, December 10, 2012

Hey guys, I  hope you all had a wonderful day! I just want to take a minute to say thank you to all of my readers new and old. It's hard to believe that I hit 300 followers today. I've only been seriously blogging since August! Back then, I had no followers and no idea what I was even blogging about. Only a few months have passed and this space has really grown and I've met some amazing bloggers in the process! I'm so humbled and I appreciate all of you that leave comments and send me so much love. I read each and every comment and I do my best to reply to all of you.
I can't wait to see where the next year brings me here on The Busy Bee!
Now back on topic...
My husband asked me what I wanted this year, so I decided to make a little wishlist of all the things I've been lusting after.
Here's a little look at what I want from Santa this year!

Where does the time go?

Sunday, December 9, 2012

It feels like I just woke up this morning but somehow I'm getting everyone ready for bed. It's been a blur of a week to say the least. I shipped a few orders from my shops, worked on a few projects that needed finishing touches, and thrifted my butt off. I finally started wrapping everything for Christmas and got a few last minute presents today.
I'm so ready for all of this holiday stress to be over with so I can enjoy some of the time my husband took off of work at the end of the year.
Here's a little look at what I've been up to lately!

1.// I finally received my business cards in the mail for the shop!  2.// Found these cute shakers for an old friend of mine while I was thrifting. 3.// Hunter is too adventurous(notice how all of my ornaments are halfway up the tree) 4.// My cat is a cute sleeper. 5.// New yarn for hats! 6.// My grandma sent me a box of awesome vintage costume jewelry. 7.// Marli helped me finish decorating the house for Christmas! 8.//Watching momma water the flowers. 9.// Chicken and Waffles family dinner.

Handmade Ornaments D.I.Y.

Saturday, December 8, 2012

I've been working on this little project for a couple of days and I'm super excited to share it with you.
When I brought out all of my boxes of Christmas decorations this year I wasn't really excited about all of my ornaments. In the past couple of years my tree has been silver, black, and teal, which was really pretty but didn't quite match my home or taste anymore. I wanted to do a complete Christmas overhaul but ornaments are pretty expensive these days. I decided that it couldn't be too hard to make some really cute ornaments on a budget, so I checked out pinterest and gathered my ideas together.
I'm really in love with how all of them came out!

 What You'll Need:
Felt in your choice of colors ( I used red, white, orange, pink, and green)
Embroidery Thread also colors are up to you
Embroidery Needle
Fabric Glue
Stuffing

I found the idea for this little cutie on Pinterest and used the basic idea of it to make my little doll! If you hop on over to My Sparkle you can get all the directions you need and even a printable template. I conqured this without the template because to be honest I ran out of ink for my printer but I think it turned out super cute!

What You'll Need:
Yarn of your choosing
Styrofoam Balls
Hot Glue Gun

These were super easy to make, they probably took me about ten minutes. I have seen the yarn wrapped ornaments at Pier One and other fancy places that were pretty pricy for such a basic concept so I tried it out. I wanted my yarn ornaments to look like actual balls of yarn that you would use for knitting, though I have seen examples like this, where all the yarn is wrapped around horizontally and very neat.
I followed the instrustions for the one linked but I used a hot glue gun, after I had the whole ball covered in yarn I began to wrap it a few times in each direction so I looks like a little yarn ball. I love how they turned out, they give my tree a very homemade crafty look!

What You'll Need:
Bakers Twine or Yarn
Hot Glue Gun
Tiny Little Canvas (I bought a pack of six from Micheal's)
Acrylic Paints
Paint Pen

These just sort of came to me while I was wondering around the craft store looking for all my other supplies. I saw a pack of these tiny canvases and thought they would be awesome stocking stuffers or ornaments, so I went with the latter.
I drew out my designs in pencil to make sure that everything looked exactly how I wanted and then I got to work. I used the paint marker to outline everything and for all the fine lines and then accented everything with the different colors of paint I chose. These would be awesome personalized ornaments you could make for your family or use as gift tags for friends.

If you try out any of these ornaments let me know how they turned out!
