It's a sad, sad day. This could possibly be the very last installment of Insta-Lately for me. I'll still be sharing photos with you guys, but they will be from a different platform. Due to Facebook buying out Instagram and the changing of their terms of service, you no longer have to right to any of your photos or your personal image and "likeness" (whatever that means.) As much as I would like to crawl in a hole and die, or just brush it off and act as though it doesn't effect me, it does. Now I feel like the Mayans where right all along. The downfall of the social media empire? Hmm. Let's just see.
I will not stand for being treated as a product that will be bought and sold with out my knowledge or consent. I will not stand for my children to be bought and sold without my approval or consent. They may have just changed a few small words, but those words make all the difference.
So as a big middle finger to Instagram I will likely be deleting my account (unless they change their policy asap), as well as my personal and business Facebook pages. It makes me sad to see Instagram and Facebook crumble to money and greed, I've been such a huge fan of the Instagram app since I joined years ago. Currently I'm working on downloading my 800 Instagram photos and finding a safe haven to share my photography with my friends and family, and all of you readers who like to keep up on me and the hive. When I work out all the kinks new buttons will be added to my sidebar and I'll inform all of you on where you can find me in the coming weeks! I hope that you all inform yourselves of your rights and know what you're agreeing to as a member of Instagram and even Facebook!

Christmas tree, lookin' spiffy. // Went a little canister crazy and bought two new beauties for my kitchen. // Received my new amazing leggings in the mail and took some time to work on projects. // Died over this goat cheese. // Crazy moon from my trip to see Kelsey. // Marli decorating Christmas cookies! // Working on some new hoop art from Kitschy Digitals. // Took marli to a birthday party, she was rather excited when we arrived. // Lazy morning with the homies. // Moments of a sugar rush. // I set up a flickr account so add me there!

**EDIT: Instagram was quick to explain away their terms and are making edits to their policies. You can read more about it here on their blog. Although this problem is probably going to be fixed, I don't regret showing my detest for the very vague and confusing policy they had before. When I sign up for a site like Instagram I have to agree with their terms of service, and if I do that, I am making myself part of their property under my own free will. Seeing this new policy made me realize that I am no longer agreeing to the terms(which are now being edited) which is why I thought about deleting my account. I'm glad that they making things more clear, but if I or we as the collective hadn't stated our concerns these things may have never been fixed. I'm glad to see so many people standing up and making their voices heard when we believe something is wrong or we are being treated with disrespect. I may be sticking around after all Instagram, but dont mess with us again or beware.
 This makes me feel better.

  1. Ok, I had no idea that this was happening but now I'm seriously disappointed. I'm going to read the link you posted, but now I'm leaning towards making the same decision! How's Flickr? :-)

    1. I'm getting used to Flickr because it's a pretty different way of doing things compared to Instagram, but I'm liking it so far. Being able to put your photos into folders is a big plus in my eyes!

  2. Wow, I didn't know this was happening. I'm going to have to take a closer look at what's going on and decide if I want to continue using these social media outlets. I just started using instagram and have really enjoyed it. Too bad! Just found your blog and the GFC link up. Your photography is beautiful. Looking forward to following.

    1. Thanks so much for coming by! I'm not claiming to know every fact or be a specialist or anything so I highly suggest dong your own research. I've read several articles that state what I'm saying but there are others that say they cannot take your images and manipulate them to sell products, so I guess it all depends on how you interpret it. But I don't want my children tired to any products period, whether they stick their brand name on my picture or if its near it. lol.

  3. Agh, why is this happening? That might be a little melodramatic, but I feel the same as you. Should I continue using these platforms which are such a vital form of communication to me, or should I take a personal stand against it and hope that somehow me deleting my account actually affects them?

    1. I completely agree. Even if they cannot manipulate the images or change them, they are still using them for their profit. I like to always take a stand and hope that it makes a difference. If they change their terms, I'll probably return to the site and forgive and forget, because I LOVE instagram and I love the platform. But this just shows how disgusting Facebook has become honestly because they are now in control.
