Coffee Carafes!

Vintage Coffee Carafes are so spectacular! I love all of the different patterns,and colors you can find them in! I find myself falling head over heels for the gold patterns, and I just cant get enough! They are definitely fun to collect, and beautiful to display!

Art on the brain!


Suite Charlie is an amazing artist that I follow on instagram. Her art work is so inspiring, and every piece is so intricate and well thought out. I love how she combines wood, ink, and watercolors to create her masterpieces. When I first discovered the photos of her pieces, I instantly became a follower. What type of materials do you use?
It depends on the piece but I always prefer to use wood as the painting surface. I love how smooth and durable it is. Canvas is just too bumpy for me :(

I started out painting in oils and I still do but lately I've been experimenting with other things like watercolors, colored pencils and inks. I love trying out new materials and different techniques!! 

What do you draw inspiration from?
Everything inspires me in one way or another but I'm assuming that's not the answer your looking for ;). I am always attracted to "clean art" and when I say that I mean anything that has detailed line work and defined colors. I am also very inspired by all things Miyazaki, the way he creates these worlds that you can so easily get lost in amazes me ( must have seen howls moving castle about a million times) on the other hand I love contrast and juxtaposition. Anything "beautifully weird" get's me going.

How would you describe your artistic style?
I really have no idea lol... I don't know how to answer that question!

How long does one of your pieces take to create?
It depends on the piece and what medium I'm working in. An oil painting like "the mean reds" that also has some collage work on it takes approximately 2 weeks on and off to figure out whereas a smaller watercolor and ink painting like "in my place" will take around 2 days to complete.

What is your favorite part of creating your artwork?
The point where the subject that I'm painting finally comes alive and I can see her personality thought the picture. Every piece gets to that point when I loose that original spark from the drawing stage and I have to work to find it when adding color. I love the feeling of looking at my character and seeing this whole new depth that I hadn't originally planned shine through, it's a really cool experience :)

Music Monday // Relaxxx

It's music Monday once again, and that means it's time for another one of my playlists on Groove Shark. This week I'm really focusing on relaxing, and just going with the flow. I have a lot of events coming up shortly that are really stressing me out, and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with the amount of work I have ahead of me, so hopefully this playlist will remind me to take a deep breath and relax!

Happy Friday!

A bunch of things have been happening this week behind the scenes of The Busy Bee! I'm working on a total blog overhaul, working out some kinks in my site, and giving everything a brand new look! I've also been working on some really cool weekly posts, so keep an eye out for the change!

Its been crazy around here! I took the past couple of days off to get some projects done around the house. My daughter Marli upgraded from a toddler bed to a twin, so Ive been up-cycling a vintage headboard for her! I also re painted some shelving in our dining room, and I'm starting to clear off shelving for my ever growing Pyrex collection! Today I acquired a Friendship print Cinderella bowl for pretty cheap, and I'm so excited to display it with the others! Not to mention Little Hunter is now in crawling mode so it makes it hard for me to sit and focus on any task or the computer for any extended period of time.

Next week ill be back in full force with some new things for you guys, but for now this little update is all I can give! Have a lovely weekend!!

Kitsch-en Inspiration!


It's been such a long week working with my shop to get everything all squared away. Since I've just opened up I'm learning the ends and outs of everything, and trying to do as much research as I can to make my business successful!
On that note, I made my first three sales within the matter of a day, and now I'm preparing for shipment! It's exciting, like sending someone a gift!

I'll be listing new items soon, but as for now, check out whats in stock! All this thrifting and business oriented thinking has me really inspired this week. I've been building up my own vintage collection for quite awhile now, and I'm just getting coo-coo over finding new pieces!
Here are some of my favorite things to collect!

Vintage Pyrex
I am absolutely obsessed with vintage Pyrex, something about the colors and designs is so nostalgic and fun! All the bright colors and designs are fun to display in any kitchen. I have a little collection myself of a few promotional pieces done in 1961, and I love them dearly. I'm always on the hunt for amazing pieces for cheap, since sometimes they run a little pricy. Lustro-Ware

Lustro-ware is one of my favorite kitchen lines. I love these fun plastic housewares products, and always keep an eye our for a good set of canisters or salt and pepper shakers while I'm out thrifting. I recently scored a yellow bread box on eBay, as well as a set of white canisters, both have beautiful gold details. Recently I read this lovely post from oh so lovely vintage, on how to make your lustro-ware canisters good as new.

Melmac Dishes
Melmac has been an obsession of mine since I fell in love with vintage treasures years ago. I've built up a cute little collection of pastel colors, and I adore them. Fun patterns and beautiful colors make these dishes so charming. If you're looking for some look no more, visit here  for an affordable variety.

Cherokee Street!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, when it comes to pizza no one compares to PI Pizzeria. In my opinion, and the Presidents, it's a must visit when you're in St Louis or Washington DC! I crave it so often that I decided to make my favorite pizza at home. The Cherokee Street is spicy, tangy, and all around yummy, so here's my version!

Two boxes Jiffy Pizza Crust
Roasted Red Peppers
Chorizo Sausage, 1 tube
1/4 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
1 Large Onion, (red or white, its up to you)
2 tsp Balsamic Vinegar
Baby Spinach
1 Tub Goat Cheese
1 Tub Feta Cheese
Crushed Red Pepper
Chipotle Pepper
1 tsp Sugar
Salt & Pepper

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease a large baking sheet or pizza pan. Start preparing your pizza crust, follow the directions on the back of the box. 
After your dough rises, and you have your dough rolled out and ready to pre-bake it should look a little something like this
Now let's get the toppings together. Chop one half your onion into bite sized chunks and put them in a small bowl, add in your balsamic vinegar, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste. Keep covered in fridge until your crust is ready to top!
Also chop your roasted red peppers, you can do as much as you like on your pizza, I used about one and a half peppers.
 Now its time to top your crust! First add your Mozzarella cheese, spreading it all over the entire crust.
 Next, get your onions out and sprinkle them on, It's okay to let some of the juices get all over the pizza, more flavor!
 Next, add your chopped red pepper. Shred spinach into bite size pieces and add it to your pizza as well, the amount is up to you!
 Now its time for Chorizo! Slice open the packaging and then pinch off little bits and scatter them evenly around your pizza, the more you add the better!
Open your containers of Goat and Feta, sprinkle evenly over pizza. You will probably use the entire container for both.

Once you have a good cover of cheese, sprinkle your entire pizza with your desired amount of crushed red pepper and chipotle pepper. Be careful, because the more you add, the hotter this pizza gets!
 Bake in the over for about 13 minutes depending on your oven. Should have a golden crust and the Chorizo should be browned when fully cooked.

Cut it up, and enjoy! This pizza is so delicious, you'll be making it all the time!

Thirsty Thursday Returns!

As the weekend gets closer and closer, I feel the need to be poolside with a fruity drink in my hand. Lately I've been so in love with sangria, and I can't pass up trying different recipes. I'm not a fan of tequila, so usually I steer clear of margaritas, sangria is my yummy alternative! I also love cocktails, just like the next girl so here are a few recipes that I've found during my Pinterest searching!
I've also included two yummy alcoholic snacks!
Obviously if you are not of age, do not try these at home!
White Strawberry Lemon Sangria // this one sounds so refreshing, sort of like a pink lemonade!

Strawberry Peach Sangria// All I can say is, yummy!

Lava Flow! // Now this recipe is actually non alcoholic, but I would like to try experimenting with this to make it a delicious "grown-up" drink!

The Sarasota! // The link is to the original recipe which is non alcoholic, but here is a fun variation:
Mix in Moscato or Riesling Wine, a splash of sprite, crushed raspberries, and mix all ingredients together!

Make Ahead Mango Raspberry Margaritas! // For all of you margarita lovers, here's a handy little drink you can always have prepared!


Apricot and Cherry Breezer Cocktail! // This drink is so cute, and yummy too!

RumChata is also one of my favorite drinks when its hot outside! Its so sweet and yummy, even though it's not strong, it's so delicious! If you like cinnamon ice cream or cinnamon toast crunch, you'll love it!

Why should you limit yourself to just drinking? If your looking for something fun for a party (birthday or bachelorette) try out these edible alcoholic snacks!

Chocolate Vodka Soaked Strawberries!  // These are so good, you wont believe it! Try them in white chocolate too!

Drunk Gummi Bears! // These would also be fun made with other gummy shapes, the octopus ones would be so fun!
