Insta-Lately and the end of Google Reader.

Sunday, June 30, 2013

Alright guys, you've probably been hearing all about the demise of Google Reader. Well tomorrow it will officially be gone forever. If you want to continue following along make sure you head on over to Bloglovin' and follow me there! I don't want you to miss out on all of the sweet projects and goodies coming in the next few months! I have a bunch of fun stuff planned!

This last week has been a whirlwind to say the least. We've had family and friends in and out, staying with us, coming to see the house and help us out with all the tasks that need to be accomplished. It has been so fantastic having such a wonderful support system. Times like these make you really realize who you can rely on. We have gotten so much done, the basement is our biggest task yet to be tackled.
I've also been busting my behind trying to get my office and shops up and running again! I started stocking up on all kinds of goodies in the last couple of days for my vintage shop and started a list of items for the handmade store. I cant wait for you all to see the goodies I've come up with for this fall!
The kids and I have been using all of our free time to play out in the backyard and soak up the sun. I don't think they have ever been so happy to get out and play. Yards are amazing guys, just wonderful!
Here is a little rundown of this weeks adventures!

I'm especially in love with the pineapple swim cover from Topshop, how freaking adorable?! Fruit prints make me happy!

Fruity Crochet Coasters.

Thursday, June 27, 2013

I'm so excited to share this really easy crochet project with you guys! This is the first project I've done since the move and boy did it feel great to be back! I've missed all my yarn! This week's pin-spiration post had me feeling very fruity, so I started brainstorming fun crochet projects that would be fitting for summer. These fruit coasters were the perfect choice! They are super simple to do, I finished my set in about two hours. I used this easy to follow pattern and then once I got the basics down I improvised and made some other fruits. I'm especially in love with the little kiwi fruit coaster, you can find my pattern for that below! Get really creative with these, just changing colors and adding little details like the seeds can make a ton of different fruity flavors. My kids are already using these cute coasters on the back patio, they turned out to be a huge hit!
 What You'll Need
H Hook
Worsted Weight yarn in the fruity colors of your choice.
Yarn Needle

 Kiwi Pattern:
Row 1: with white yarn  MC, Chain 2, 12 dc in loop. sl stitch to join into first DC and fasten.
Row 2: switch to green yarn  Attach new color, Chain 2, 2 DC in each stitch. sl stitch to join into first DC.
Row 3: Chain 2, 2 DC, 1 DC in the next stitch. Repeat around. sl stitch to join into first DC and fasten.
Row 4: color change to tan yarn SC in every stitch around, sl stitch to join in first SC. Fasten.
Weave in all of your ends, and then add stitches with black yarn toward the white center to look like kiwi seeds.
Easy as pie!
I hope you have a blast making these fruit coasters!

Kitsch Krazy // Flamingo Pink.

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

I'm going crazy over pink flamingos this summer! I found the cutest throw from IKEA and now I'm on the lookout for more flamingo decor. Of course I went on an Etsy hunt to find some flamingo touches for my house and I came across some amazing items! I really fell in love with vintage salt and pepper shaker souvenirs from Florida. There are so many different styles to chose from, it's going to be hard to chose a pair to call my own! I think the first pair is probably my favorite!

Back in Action!

Friday, June 21, 2013

Holy smokes guys, I've been gone awhile! I can officially quit complaining about moving and packing because I'm finally in my new house. It has been such a relief to be in our new home and start this next chapter of our lives, it feels like a thousand pounds has been lifted off of my shoulders. We've put in a lot of work and had plenty of sleepless nights over the past week but I am so pleased by the amount of progress so far. Everything is coming along so beautifully. We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family, they spent days with us painting and moving (even on Father's Day) with no complaints. That's true love people!
Now that things are settling down and we've gotten the main parts of the house painted and unpacked I'm finally seeing my vision come to life. All of my hoarding and collecting surely paid off and I think the hubby has come to the realization that I'm not just a crazy person with an addiction, all of it actually had a purpose! We still have a lot more work to do, the kids rooms are an absolute disaster but I know that it will all come in time. I'm trying not to sweat the small stuff and just soak in the glory that is our first home as a family. I'm looking forward to the day where paint cans and brushes aren't littering the counters and floors but the progress we made in the last week is pretty impressive if I do say so myself.
Thank you all for being so supportive and loving during this process. Many of you have reached out to me on Instagram and Twitter, showering us with so many lovely comments and they are so appreciated. I'm so glad to be back in this little space doing what I love. Being gone for so long has definitely made me realize how much I love blogging and sharing all my little adventures with you. I cannot wait until things are a little more settled and I can get back into my old routine again!
Here's a few little snippets of the hive so far via Instagram (follow me and check out the new videos the kids and I made, hooray for a video feature), I'm sure there will be plenty more to come so stay tuned.

and remember, GFC is going to be gone in a few weeks so make sure that you follow me on Bloglovin so you can stay up to date on all the buzz!

Pink Flamigos and Tiki Rooms.

Friday, June 7, 2013

I've been searching all over the interwebz for fun art prints to hang in the new house! I love finding fun art to make my walls just a little more happy, but I'm also very picky about styles and color. Recently in my search for mid century goodness I stumbled upon this amazing artist Linda Tillman and it was love at first sight! Her prints are bright and bold and filled with all of my favorite things, could this be real? Her artwork was just what I was looking for. I started scrolling through her shop and found that it was going to be hard to purchase only a few prints! Mid century interiors, pink flamingos, Eames era architecture, and tiki scenes, what's a girl to do!? I'm planning on doing an entire hallway of these babies in the new house, I'm excited to start my little collection. Here are some of my absolute favorite pieces!
 One. // Two. // Three. // Four. // Five. // Six. // Seven. // Eight. // Nine. // Ten. // Eleven.

See what I mean? Her Etsy shop is just full of different styles, themes, and color combinations! I'm especially loving the turquoise and pink prints. Make sure you check out some of her other pieces! Which one is your favorite?
