Spring is right around the corner and the cleaning bug has taken over! The minute the sun starts shining and the birds start chirping I'm ready to crack open the windows, rid our home of all the dust bunnies, and organize our pantries and closets for the season. While I was organizing my kitchen and cleaning out our drawers and cupboards I took a little time to condition all of my wood pieces with all natural wood butter that I whip up myself. The recipe is super simple and uses only a few ingredients you might even have on hand to condition and nourish your wood spoons, cutting boards, bowls, and more. I love taking time in the kitchen to put this together with my kids, they can help gather and measure the ingredients while I stir over the warm stove.
In my recipe I'm using Lavender and Rosemary essential oils from Young Living to add extra nourishing properties, plus it makes it smell so fresh and delicious. You can try other combinations to condition your wood with, if you try your own blend let us know in the comments so we have new ideas to try next time!
Ingredients:
+1 cup coconut oil
+1/2 cup beeswax
+Essential Oil of choice

Recipe:
In a saucepan over medium heat slowly combine coconut oil and beeswax until melted and fully combined. Pour mixture into a clean mason jar and set to cool. While mixture is still liquid add one or two drops of your favorite essential oils and stir gently. Let cool until hardened, then label and enjoy!
I love to buttah my wood items once every couple of months to keep them from drying out and seal them nicely from water! That's it! A super simple and easy kitchen DIY!
If you try out this recipe let me know, I'd love to hear what you think!
